Proverbs 22:7 says "The rich rule over the poor, and borrowers are servants to lenders."(NCV) Nobody wants to be a servant to someone else....but Scripture lays it out in black and white. Borrow money and the lender has the potential to control your life. What can we do? Quit borrowing, cut the credit cards in half, and work without cease to pay off all our debts. If we owe no one, then the lenders have no control in our life. Make a commitment to eliminate all debt and start today.
A Good Shepherd Knows His Flock
Proverbs 27:23 says"Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds." As shepherds of our money, no less is required of us. We must know the condition of our finances. We need to know how much cash and assets we have and where it is located. Likewise, we need to know what we owe, to whom it is owed and the exact amount owed. It is surprising the number of people who cannot provide this information. The first step to dealing with financial problems is to decide that you going to do something to correct the problems. Once you have resolved to take action, then the next step is to create a balance statement for yourself and make a complete list of your assets (anything that you have of value) and liabilities (money that is owed). If you need help with this, fill out the help request form on this site and request "Balance Sheet".
